This commode is made after an exceptional commode-mediallier, a medals cabinet in the form of a commode, created to hold Louis XV's collection of medals that commemorated great events of his reign. The commode-medaillier was designed by the Slodtz brothers and executed by Antoine-Robert Gaudreaus. The commode-medaillier is now in the collection of the Musée de Versailles, France.
