A rare and beautifully executed pair of George III silver tea caddies crafted by Thomas Pitts of London. Each caddy features a rare combination of casting, chasing and repossé decorative techniques, forming an Asian-inspired motif that pays homage to their precious contents. One caddy would contain bold black tea, the other delicate green tea. The drinker would create their own blend, depending on how strong they preferred their beverage. Considering that tea during this era was literally, worth more than it's weight in gold, it stands to reason such a valuable item would be housed in an expertly crafted pair of fine silver caddies by a renowned name such as Pitts.
