The Presentation in the Temple. Oil on canvas. The painting career Willem van Herp beginning to emerge between 1625-1629, when working with Damian and Hans Biermans Wortelmans. He was abroad before returning to their homeland and become part of the Gilde of St. Luke in 1637-38. The Gilder are painters guilds where artists gathered and exercising a trade, and who were considered capable of meeting various demands. In 1651, working in the service of the Antwerp antiquarian Matthijs Musson producing a lot of work especially market-oriented Spanish.'s Work Willem van Herp is characterized by strong line drawing of the figures that convey a lot of strength thanks to the color that enriches it. It is a faithful follower of Peter Paul Rubens and Jacob Jordaens who are inspired to run historical or religious paintings. Willem van Herp had two sons who were both painters. The Presentation in the Temple is the title of the picture discussed here. It draws directly from the passage of the Gospel of Luke 2,22-39, whereby the law of Moses required that the eldest son is presented in the temple's high priest and the mother also follow the rite of purification, for which was required the sacrifice of two pigeons. It is interesting to observe how the artist has faithfully followed the gospel text to submit to the fore the main action. The high priest welcomes the Child, San Jose is located just behind the Virgin wears the cage with doves. We sense the importance of the moment thanks to the expressions on the faces of different characters, the painter manages to capture the respect which I felt in this scene. The line sure gets loose and pass a provision in the area very well balanced.
