A Very Fine Pair of Louis XVI Style Marquetry and Gilt Bronze Mounted Pedestals after the model by Martin Carlin.

Each pedestal of tapering form with canted corners, the panels to the front centred by a gilt bronze mask of Apollo above richly applied gilt bronze foliate mounts centred by a vase. The sides inlaid with diapered marquetry panels and the whole supported by gilt bronze lion paw feet raised on a shaped pedestal with toupie feet.

This design for this pair of pedestals is directly inspired by the pair of pedestals by the Eighteenth Century ebeniste Martin Carlin and now in the Musée du Louvre.

French, Circa 1900.
