Superb Pair of Japanese Arita blue and white vases and covers, 17th century, of octagonal ovoid form painted in a rich underglaze-blue with ho-o birds amongst peonies, kiku and hydrangea and rockwork in a fenced garden, above a narrow band of uchiwa, the shoulders with panels containing floral sprays, beneath uchiwa, the neck with flower heads. Somerset; which belonged to the Bailward familly.
