The Arnoldi-Livie Gallery has been dealing since 1972 in a large scope of specialties mostly based on works on paper and paintings. "We range from the Old Masters period to the classic modern one", says Caspar Livie.
Supply issues are always a problem for the art market. For Caspar Livie, "the ultimate strategy to tray and avoid them would be to work very closely with private collectors and source privately new buyers willing to buy or sell major works of art". This obviously mandates a certain relationship management with the clients.
In the recent years, prices classic modern pieces have much more increased in value than older pieces. "But I think we are lucky to have clients for our large range of things and I can't tell if one period is outperforming the other, it's just another way of making business", says Caspar Livie.
The gallery's customers bases are European and American. Contrary to what other people have been observing the Arnoldi-Livie Gallery doesn't think that the American market is dying. "We still have many American collectors and we are very thankful for our relations with American museums. So I can't predict any dying or emerging market, since everything seams to be pretty stable for our gallery", says Caspar Livie.

Older pieces and classic modern pieces - what's the difference between them? Of course the American art market isn't dying, just look at the galleries' turnover, look at the the quantity of American buyers, especially in Paris!! In Paris you see them even more often than Chinese, French, Japanese and Russian buyers!
