Marc PERPITCH, expert in Medieval Art & Furniture

Marc PERPITCH, expert in Medieval Art & Furniture

The Marc Perpitch Gallery is specialized in three centuries of furniture and works of art: 15th, 16th and 17th. "What I like so much about Medieval Arts are the materials and the modernist aspect of the furniture. It is less precious than the 18th Century, woods are natural and I believe these periods are less "frivolous"! As I also can be!", says Marc Perpitch.

For the time being, the most active Countries for the Medieval Arts trade are Italy, France and Netherlands. The medieval art market use to have many American clients, but they left the market because of the dollar exchange rate. A part of the Medieval period furniture is considered as very old fashioned. Collectors don't wish to live in the same home interiors in which our parents use to live. "This is a personal point of view, but I believe there is another reason, more objective: since 20 years, our society is so much attracted by new technologies that people are always facing the future, and never the past. It encourages a certain taste for the future and so little for the past one", says Marc Perpitch.

"Trends are leading my business. A masterpiece is the best investment possible", says Marc Perpitch. A masterpiece will always remain a masterpiece. Even in Medieval Arts, major artworks have kept important prices on the market, and are even sold for bigger prices. There isn't any speculation possible in this field. A masterpiece value can't decline.
