Jean-Pierre MONTESINO is an expert in Egyptian Archaeology in Paris. What he likes so much about Egyptology is all the mysteries related to the items. Since Egyptians believed that the "real life" was the one that came after death, a tomb had to be filled with the most wonderful works of art such as ushabtis, and a lot of writings, since it was sacred.
"It is hard to tell which dynasty is mostly searched for on the market, but I would say that the 18th dynasty is the leading one", says Jean-Pierre MONTESINO. This dynasty is pretty much like the French 18th Century: excellence in arts. After that came foreign dynasties, so we can also find great arts, but the 18th one his the major one. Specially the Amenophis III period.
There has been no crash in Egyptology Art Market. Thanks to all the exhibitions done in France on this subject, people have still a great interest in Egyptology. The Champollion's history helps also! France is very proud of all its discoveries. "Each time there is a public exhibition, many clients are coming in the gallery to buy books and small items", says Jean-Pierre MONTESINO.
"My clients are mostly based in France and in Brussels, since I exhibit in two art fairs: the BRAFA and BAAF in Belgium; but I also sell to museums such as Le Louvre, The Metropolitan Museum and many others. Nowadays Chinese are trying to buy back their heritage through porcelain and Chinese bronzes, so for the time being I don't have clients in China, neither in Russia", says Jean-Pierre MONTESINO.

sympa la comparaison entre la 18ème dynastie et le 18ème siècle! En tout cas c'est facile à retenir.
